This drama is a remake of the popular suspense drama The Devil that was aired in Korea last year. Ohno Satoshi will be playing the role of a two-faced lawyer, one of which is a kind hearted soul and the other who is plotting revenge, using his brilliant mind, on the person who killed his relative. On the other hand, Ikuta Toma will play the double lead role of the man, who has become a detective due to his dark past, who is pursuing the mysterious series of murders and fighting against the devil (maou).

Ohno Satoshi as Naruse Ryo/Manaka Tomoo :: IT’S FINALLY OHNO SATOSHI’S TURN TO HAVE A DRAMA! How I’ve longed to see him in one. He has often appeared as guests on other Arashi member’s dramas but at long long long last! His first regular role in a drama is the leading one too! Anyways, Serizawa Ryo is quite the opposite of Ohno’s real character. Also known as the “angel lawyer,” he helps those who are innocent suspects. As angelic as Ryo may seem on the outside, deep down he’s the devil who is plotting a revenge against a certain detective and his family. I actually would have never imagined Ohno doing a role so .. so .. serious. His infamous maou glare will have you back away from the screen, despite him having “sleepy” eyes. If you’ve seen the way Ohno looks normally, you’d think he was sleepy 24/7 but in the cutest way! Anyway, superb acting for Ohno’s first time in a drama series. A+++++++! (If you’re wondering .. YES I am totally biased x] )

Ikuta Toma as Serizawa Naoto :: Ahh Toma’s hair before the permed-wreck he has right now in Majo Saiban. When I think of Serizawa Naoto, the first word that comes to my mind is run. He does a heck of a lot of running in this drama. Naoto is a young, hot-blooded detective who takes action before he thinks. As a kid, he was part of an accident that led to a boy’s death. Little does he know, that accident is about to come back and haunt him in a string of serial murders. I felt really sorry for this character; had to watch him frustrated throughout the whole drama. This role is significantly than the other roles Toma has had and although I love his comedic roles more, this one isn’t so bad ^.^

Kobayashi Ryoko as Sakita Shiori :: I actually haven’t seen many of Ryoko’s dramas, so this I would have to say is the first time I’ve noticed her. Other work I have seen her in was Sunadokei (not a big role) and Hinokio (totally didn’t realize she was in it until a few days ago). The first thing I think of when I saw Ryoko is .. big eyes; they are h-u-g-e. I feel like I can use them as a mirror. Well, Shiori is one of the most innocent characters you will ever see in a drama. She has psychic ability and receives premonitions whenever she touches specific objects. Her character is very likable, even though she doesn’t realize things until it’s too late. Ryoko does a very nice job portraying Sakita Shiori.

Storyline & Relationships

This drama is actually a bit hard to review. Why? Because there is so much going on. Let’s start by talking about the suspense of the whole thing. It’s awesome! You already know who’s behind it all, but HOW he does things is just brilliant. Naruse Ryo is a genius and Serizawa Naoto has no idea what’s coming to him until the end. Each time one of Naoto’s friends was killed, I was just in awe at how everything was done. Especially how Naruse Ryo saved the suspects by calling it self-defense (and it truly is). I have to admit though, it’s really frustrating watching Naoto run around, like a chicken with its head cut off, trying to catch the one responsible. Part of me didn’t want him to catch Ryo too. Yeah, I know .. sad.

Not only is this drama suspenseful, it’s also very heart-wrenching. Ryo’s reasons for doing everything was due to his brother’s death. However, he doesn’t know that everything was an accident and watching him break down when he finds out the truth is just .. T_T   Both guys were struggling with a difficult past only to end in a tragic way. And the innocent bystander, Shiori, has to watch everything go down. We all know that Naoto had feelings for Shiori, but she was so preoccupied with Ryo she didn’t exactly notice. Typical triangle except no one ends up with anyone. Ryo’s conflicted feelings for Shiori and his undying revenge reminds me of Kurosagi. You know he wants her, but his mind is so set on revenge that he doesn’t man up to letting it go. I guess they should scrap that saying – hell hath no fury like a woman scorned. Overall, this drama is good for it’s suspense and if you’re looking for a happy ending .. STAY CLEAR of this one! Back away from the computer/laptop and don’t watch it unless you love tragic endings. That’s all I can really say about this one, it’s one of those dramas where you have to watch it in order to understand everything.
