After an earthquake destroyed Xiang Qin’s house, she and her father moved in with the family of her father’s college buddy, Uncle Ah Li. To her surprise, the kind and amicable aunt and uncle are the parents of her cold and distant schoolmate Jiang Zhi Shu, a genius with an IQ of 200 whom not too long ago rejected her endless crush on him. Will the close proximity give her a second chance to win Zhi Shu’s heart? Or, will her love for him end under his cold words? What happens when there is competition for his heart?
Ariel Lin as Yuan Xiang Qin :: Ariel Lin plays an innocent and simple minded girl, Xiang Qin who in very much in love with Jiang Zhi Shu. Her character could be described as brainless and lacks confidence but at the same time, she is a determined person, she doesn’t give up. I really like her character, although there have been times where I was annoyed with her. The most important thing about her, is that, she stays true to her herself.
Joe Cheng as Jiang Zhi Shu :: Joe Cheng plays the distant and cold schoolmate, Jiang Zhi Shu. He has an IQ of 200 and is considered a genius. Although he has a high IQ, it seems like his EQ is quite low. He is aware that Xiang Qin is in love with him, yet he still cold/rude to her. He is aware that he likes Xiang Qin, but doesn’t want to admit it. There was many times in which I wanted to whack him for being mean to Xiang Qin. His character is not my favorite but his character does help balance out the series.
Jiro Wang as Jin Yuan Feng :: Jiro Wang plays “Ah Jin” who has been in love with Xiang Qin since freshmen year of high school. In order to be closer to Xiang Qin, he began apprenticing at Xiang Qin’s father’s restaurant. His character is a bit annoying at times, because he tends to cling onto Xiang Qin.
Storyline and Relationships
Words cannot describe how much I adore this series. This drama was amazing, from the cast to the plot, it was perfect. The chemistry between Xiang Qin and Zhi Shu was perfect. If the saying, “opposites attract” is true, then Xiang Qin and Zhi Shu are the perfect example. Xiang Qin is simple and optimistic while Zhi Shu is somewhat cold and distant. If Xiang Qin had not appeared in Zhi Shu’s life, his life would have been straightforward without emotions. However, meeting Xiang Qin, his life had become a rollercoaster.
Xiang Qin’s character is a bit stupid. Her IQ is only about 75, which is borderline to being mentally challenged, yet despite her lack of IQ, she clearly makes up for it with her good heart and simple nature. Although, she had brought chaos into Zhi Shu’s life, he is grateful that she had shown him what life is like. Zhi Shu, on the other hand is a genius yet he doesn’t seem to know how to have fun. Maybe this is because of his childhood, but since Xiang Qin came into his life, he started to slowly open up.
In the drama, Xiang Qin consistently reminded Zhi Shu that she likes him, yet he consistently rejects in her in public, but in private, he knows that he likes her as well. She is different than any other girl that he had met. She is not smart, she can’t cook, she didn’t think very clearly, but she is optimistic and she is determined. There were many scenes in the drama that made me want to hurt Zhi Shu for being so mean to Xiang Qin.
It was only toward the end in which Zhi Shu realize that the only person for him was Xiang Qin. But during this time, Xiang Qin was going out with Ah Jin. Although, Xiang Qin wasn’t in love with Ah Jin, she was considering accepting his marriage proposal. After Zhi Shu heard about this, Zhi Shu finally confessed to Xiang Qin. The ending was definitely sweet. Finally, 5 years of chasing Zhi Shu, Xiang Qin finally got what she wanted. She finally got her man!
